Even though he loved his fathers gospel sound, Randy also loved a new sounds called Rock and Roll. By the time he was 20 he had blended the two sounds into what he called "gospel rock". He signed his own deal with Word records and was "on the road" where he met with success. Myrhh Records was created for his second release and Randy went on to record ten more projects. The new music he helped forefather called "Contemporary Christian" grew to become the mega industry it is today. " Something he felt he never really fit in with. He'd say "I feel like I'm somewhere between Mick Jagger and Billy Graham!" Randy also became a top spokesperson for Compassion International and World Vision, two of the most respected child sponsorship programs for poverty relief.   Being on the road for twenty five years had grown tiresome for Randy, so he decided to quit. He didn't pick up a guitar for over two years, but when he did "RedBeard the Pirate" was born. He studied pirate, dressed pirate, thought and talked pirate, becoming as much of a pirate as his wife would allow. Every Friday night at sunset he sat on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico, singing his pirate songs and telling his stories. Over the next few months there was always a small crowd waiting to hear him. Today he still plays on those beaches but on his own stages..." Red Beard's Run A Ground" on Palm Island Resort and "Red Beard's Shark Tooth Tavern" at the TradeWinds Resort. When asked if he still feels like he somewhere between Mick Jagger and Billy Graham, he'll laugh and say "Arrgh Matey, now I finally know who I am... somewhere between Santa Claus and Captain Hook!"

He is RedBeard, "as good as a pirate can be"
